On March 29, the LCC band traveled to Kearney for Class C State Band. Here students performed in one of three bands that they auditioned for in January. Derek Nelson and Faith Galvin were in the Wind Ensemble; Paul Allison, Mara Droppers, Christian Staples, and Sam Cross were in the Symphonic Band; and Alex Allison, Owen Johnson, Caden Barnes, Nolan Nordby, and Foster Stone were in the Junior High Band. The performers practiced from 8:30 a.m.- 3:30 p.m. They ended the day with their concert at 5:00 p.m. The junior high went first, and their favorite song was based on watching squirrels. Then, the symphonic band performed three songs, and they ended with a secret encore that was not on the program. The wind ensemble wrapped up the night, their favorite song being a Latin power ballad. The band members received gold, silver, or bronze medals for their performance.
